Neurofeedback

What is neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a type of brain training that gently guides your brain toward more regulated states by reflecting back what it’s doing in real time.

It’s grounded in the understanding that your brain is always learning. When it receives clear, consistent feedback in a supportive environment, it naturally begins to shift out of survival patterns—like anxiety, shutdown, or hypervigilance—and into more grounded, flexible states.

It’s not about overriding your brain—it’s about inviting it back into balance.

What does a session feel like?

Each neurofeedback session is designed to be regulating, non-invasive, and responsive to your unique needs. Here’s what the process looks like, especially during your first session:

1

Getting to know you

Before we begin the neurofeedback itself, we’ll spend some time understanding you.
This includes a 90-question assessment that gently explores how your nervous system is functioning across areas like sleep, focus, mood, and emotional regulation.

This is not a test or diagnosis. It’s a way for us to co-create an individualized neurofeedback protocol that supports your goals and meets your system where it is. Your responses guide the process; there are no right or wrong answers.

We’ll also check in about how you’re feeling that day, what you’re hoping for from the session, and how your body and nervous system have been feeling lately. You’re always welcome to share as much or as little as feels right.

2

Sensor placement

Once you're ready, small sensors will be gently placed on your scalp and ears using a soft, washable paste. These sensors don’t send anything into your brain—they simply read your brain’s natural electrical activity (your brainwaves). It’s completely painless and non-invasive.
3

The feedback process

You’ll sit back and watch abstract, visually engaging images on a screen while listening to audio tones that respond in real time to your brainwave activity.

Both the sounds and the fractal images shift based on everything you’re thinking, feeling, and experiencing in the moment. This ongoing feedback helps your brain learn to self-regulate more effectively.

You may also be asked to click a button occasionally—specifically when the “What Is/What Isn’t” bar turns slightly or fully blue. This simple action supports your brain in making subtle corrections and moving toward more balanced patterns.

Think of it as your brain looking into a mirror. When it receives accurate feedback about what it’s doing, it can begin to make subtle adjustments on its own—without pressure, force, or conscious effort.

You don’t have to figure anything out. The learning happens naturally, in the background, as your brain gradually finds its way toward greater balance and flexibility.

4

Integration & support

After the session, we’ll take a few moments to check in again. Many people report feeling calm, grounded, or lightly energized. Some may feel tired or emotionally stirred as their system processes the session—which is also normal.

We’ll talk about how it felt for you, what came up, and how your system responded. Your voice and experience matter. We’ll use that feedback to guide how we move forward, always at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
